Holly the Elf Bunny: Free Christmas Bunny Amigurumi Pattern

Holly is a white bunny elf with tall ears standing up in front of a red and white striped elf hat. A yellow bell sits on the tip of the hat and a green cord scarf is tied at her neck. She has a fluffy round tail and sits on her round bottom.

She uses the same round shapes as Jingle the Elf Kitten, so if you have made one, the other is quick. Step-by-step photos show every part, and the brown bunny version at the end swaps the colours.

What You’ll Need

  • Sport / fine (size 2) cotton yarn in white, red, green, yellow and a little pink
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook (a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests keeps the stitches tight)
  • A pair of 10 mm safety eyes
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle, sewing pins and a stitch marker

The finished size depends on your yarn and hook: thicker yarn and a bigger hook make a bigger Holly.

  • inc increase: 2 sc in the same stitch

Make a Brown elf bunny

Brown elf bunny version of Holly the Elf Bunny

Make the head, body, arms and ears in light brown and keep the muzzle white. Work the hat in green and white stripes with a red brim and tie a red scarf.

FAQ

Do the ears go through the hat?

No. The hat sits on the back of the head and the ears stand in front of it, so there is nothing to cut or shape.

Can I use fluffy yarn for the tail?

Yes. A ball of white chenille or a small yarn pompom makes the tail fluffier.

Is it safe for babies?

Safety eyes can come loose with hard play. For a baby, embroider the eyes with black yarn and sew the bell on very firmly or leave it off.
