Frost is a chubby white polar bear with little round ears, a soft cream muzzle and a cosy blue cord scarf. He is the easiest of our winter friends: every piece is a round shape in single crochet.
Make him in a fluffy white yarn for a snowy look or in cotton for crisp stitches. The step-by-step photos show every part, and at the end you can turn him into a brown bear cub with the same pattern.

Frost the Polar Bear Free Crochet Pattern
What You’ll Need
- Sport / fine (size 2) cotton yarn in white, cream and blue, plus a little black for the nose
- 2.5 mm crochet hook (a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests keeps the stitches tight)
- A pair of 10 mm safety eyes
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Tapestry needle, sewing pins and a stitch marker
The finished size depends on your yarn and hook: thicker yarn and a bigger hook make a bigger Frost.

FAQ
Can I use fluffy yarn?
Yes, a soft fluffy or velvet white yarn gives a snowy look. The stitches are harder to see, so count carefully and use a stitch marker.
How do I keep a white toy clean?
Wash your hands before you start and keep the yarn in a bag. A finished toy can be hand washed in cool water and dried flat.
Is it safe for babies?
Safety eyes can come loose with hard play. For a baby, embroider the eyes with black yarn instead.
