FAQ

How do you make a unicorn mane in crochet?
There are three common ways. You can knot cut strands of yarn onto the head, like Confetti. You can crochet curls by chaining and working back along the chain, like the Cuddly Stitches unicorn. Or you can use faux fur yarn for a fluffy look, like Eunice. Knotted strands are the easiest for beginners.

What yarn makes a crochet unicorn sparkly?
Look for yarns with a metallic thread or sparkle in them, like baby blanket sparkle yarn or metallic worsted. Use them for the horn, hooves or mane and keep the body in a smooth yarn so the stitches stay neat. Gold crochet thread also makes a great tiny horn.

How do I make the unicorn horn stand up?
Crochet the horn tightly with a smaller hook and stuff it firmly. Some patterns slip a toothpick or a short piece of pipe cleaner inside for extra support. If the toy is for a young child, skip anything sharp and just stuff the horn very firmly instead.
